The concept of sustainable development emerged in the 1970s as a compromise between sustained economic growth and nature conservation, when current economic development policies were not sufficient for an ecologically sustainable and socially equitable system all over the world. Sustainable development, which was originally used to respond to environmental concerns, has expanded over time to include social and economic perspectives. Thus, it can be said that sustainable development is an effort to combine social and economic issues with ecological concerns. Sustainability takes full account of the environmental consequences of economic activities. focuses on the use of renewable resources. Therefore, it is economic development based on the minimum use of depleted resources. The private sector in Turkey is a major actor in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, as it contributes to the national income, provides employment, offers large-scale investments, and plays a role in international trade. In this study, firstly, after summarizing the history of the concept of sustainability and its changes and developments over the years, first of all, the approach of our country and the private sector to the subject is mentioned. At the point where the world has come; States, individuals and businesses expect a number of responsibilities. In the study, the subject was examined specifically for the Aluminum Sector, and then the concept of sustainability was evaluated from the eyes of the managers working in the enterprise by conducting a survey on the subject in an enterprise in the ISO 500 in the Aluminum Sector. The results were analyzed with the SPSS program and recommendations were made primarily to businesses and then to all responsible persons.
