The psycho-social factors that affect the Alzheimer's disease and medical social work

At this study, it has begun with the opinion that there are psycho-social factors that effect the Alzheimer's disease; psycho-social and economic lives of the patients before they become Alzheimer have been analyzed and it is aimed to determine the psycho-social factors that cause to Alzheimer's disease. In consideration of the determined factors, the medical social service interventions for Alzheimer's patients have been emphasized. The survey sampling has been realized with 60 Alzheimer's patients, who reside in Province Sakarya, District Adapazarı; and the questionnaire form, which was formed within the scope of this study, has been applied to their hospital attendants. Obtained data has been analyzed and commented by using SPSS. According to this, it has been concluded that the disease occurs on women, advanced ages and undereducated persons highly; for this reason, age, sexuality and educational background are among the factors that affect the Alzheimer's disease; the patients did not occupy in any mental activity before taking Alzheimer diagnosis; they did not do any physical activity, for this reason, it has been concluded that attending to social activities may affect the Alzheimer's disease. That there is a positive relation between mental health and Alzheimer has been proved with the finding of having depression of the patients in the past. It has been concluded that the Alzheimer's disease is affected by genetic predisposition and chronic health problems. According to the findings that were obtained within the scope of the study, the final part of the study has included conclusion and suggestions
