Abstract (EN)

Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease reduce a person's quality of life due to impairments in cognitive, emotional and behavioral functions. Despite the advances in modern medicine as people's life expectancy increases and the elderly population increases, these two diseases have become an important problem worldwide. The spread of these two diseases negatively affects the country's economies in terms of patient care and health expenditures. The drug treatments currently used are only symptomatic, and research is being carried out to find new drugs in this regard. Various chalcone derivatives that inhibit anticholinesterase and monoamine oxidase enzymes have emerged in recent studies. In this project, 9 new compounds containing chalcone groups were synthesized. The structures of the compounds were elucidated by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and mass spectroscopy methods. The inhibition effect of the last compounds against cholinesterase and monoamine oxidase enzymes was evaluated. Additionally, the binding patterns of effective compounds to relevant enzymes were analyzed by molecular modelling.
