Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between Q angle and static and dynamic balance on amateur male athletes. The study included 66 partipicants aged between 18 and 30 years with an average age of 22,8 ± 3,7 years. Pro-Kin system technobody and flamingo balance test were used to assess dynamic and static balance respectively. New York Posture Analises Scale and electronic dynamometer were used to evaluate posture and the strength of lower extremity and trunk muscles respectively and also the flexibility of the lower extremity and trunk muscles were assesed. In consequence of statistical analyses, the values of Q angle in standing position were defined 10,7° ± 1,3° in right extremity, 10,7° ± 1,7° in left extremity. The values of Q angle in supine position were detected 11,0° ± 1,2° in right extremity, 11,0° ± 1,3° in left extremity. There was no difference between Q angle of right and left extremity in both position(p>0,05). There was no relationship between Q angle and static and dynamic balance(p>0,05). The degrees of pes planus and kyphosis in 22-30 years age group were significantly higher than 18-21 years age group (p<0,05). And also in the group with a body mass index (BMI) of between 25-30 kg/m², the degrees of kyphosis were higher than the group with a BMI of between 18-24.9 kg/m² (p<0,05). The assesment of the variables such as Q angle, balance, age, BMI and posture in male athletes may be helpful in preventing or decreasing sport injuries and increasing physical performance. Future studies that include especially overweight and obese participants should analyze the relationship between pathologic or normal Q angle and variables such as balance, strength and flexibility. Key Words: Q angle, balance, posture, BMI, athlete.
