Abstract (EN)
Op Art is an art movement that developed especially in Europe after World War II and found its application in the USA. The geometric shapes, lines, and various colors stimulate the retinal layer in the eye and it gives the viewer a sense of movement when looking at the picture. Op Art creates a three-dimensional effect in a two-dimensional environment. It addresses all audiences regardless of age, gender, culture, religion, language, race. Movement and illusion is inherent to Op Art. Op Art is an art movement where art and science meet, thus it differs from other art movements. It emerged in the 1960s and has increased its influence with the development of technology. Op Art, which finds application in graphic design, fashion design and interior design, has started to show its effect in the world. In my thesis, the beginning of Op Art, its features, important artists and their use in emblem-logotypes, which are an important element of graphic design, are emphasized. Emblem-logotype designs indicating the effects of Op Art movement are categorized by sectors and examined within the framework of the rules of graphic design.
