Abstract (EN)

Objective: The aim of this study is to evaluate the relationship between ambulatory blood pressure (ABP) fluctuations and coronary artery disease (CAD), using the SYNTAX score. Methods: In the study, 477 patients who were diagnosed with hypertension (HT), underwent coronary angiography (CAG) and diagnosed with CAD, and also followed up for ABP were examined. After 146 patients were excluded from the study due to exclusion criteria, the study continued with the remaining 331 patients. ABP values of all patients were examined and the patients were grouped as having "dipper" (group 1) and "non-dipper" (group 2) hypertension. Demographic characteristics of the study population, standard 2-dimensional echocardiography findings and CAG findings were recorded. The relationship between ambulatory BP follow-ups and SYNTAX values in patients with CAD and HT was evaluated by statistical analysis. Result: There were 106 patients (mean age 60.1 ± 9.7 years) in group 1, and 225 patients (mean age 63.7 ± 9.7 years) in group 2. There were statistically significant differences between the two groups in terms of age and diabetes from demographic data, and between GFR values from biochemical parameters. There was no difference in terms of other demographic characteristics. The basic echocardiographic parameters were similar in both groups, except IVS and PW thickness. A statistically significant difference was observed in both groups in terms of SYNTAX value (p = 0.0007). Conclusion: SYNTAX value, which reflects the complexity of CAD, was statistically significant in patients with NDHT in comparison to patients with DHT.
