Investigation of risk factors faced by operating room nurses. master's thesis predicted for nursing master's program

Operating Room Nurses (ORN) is an indispensable member of the surgical team, they are exposed to many risks in the operating room environment. Few studies describe the risk factors of hazards in operating rooms. These factor was aimed to determine the risk factors ORN in the operating rooms. This is a prospective descriptive study with ORN working in the operating theater of six hospitals affiliated to Gaziantep Public Hospitals Association General Secretariat between September 2019 and February 2020. 139 ORN formed the sample of the research. The data examines the questionnaires made by the researcher and the Occupational Risk Factors Scale (ORFS). ORFS consists of 41 propositions for determining physical, chemical, biological, psychological, ergonomic and radiation risks. SPSS 22. 0 program was used in the analysis of the data that were selected. P <0. 05 value was accepted for statistical significance. It is used for high radiation and biological risks (where: 3. 55 ± 0. 93; 3. 40 ± 0. 51), moderate to ergonomic and chemical risks (content: 3. 17 ± 0. 75; 2. 93 ± 0. 80), low rate of psychological and physical risks (used: 2. 54 ± 0. 84; 2. 46 ± 0. 63). The risk factors faced by ORN's vary according to age, educational status, duration of experience in the operating room, working style in the operating room, assignment style, and being an operating room training certificate holder. (P <0. 05). The risk factors faced by ORN's are important in terms of gender, duration of experience in nursing, and training of factor risks. It has been determined that ORN's are exposed to operating radiation, biological, ergonomic, chemical, psychological and physical risks.
