Abstract (EN)

SUMMARY INTRODUCTION AND PURPOSE This research was made in order to determine using conditions of non-technical skills by surgical nurses. METHOD This research was made with semi-structured in-depth interviews method from qualitative research methods. Data was collected between dates of 19.03.2014-30.01.2014 in this research. Population of research was formed by 40 surgical nurses worked in surgery unit of university hospital, sampling was formed by 18 surgical nurses. In collecting of data was used demographic features form and semi-structured interview form. In respect to six non-technical skills totally, data was obtained with 14 questions semi-structured interview form. "Disclosure and consent form" was read by participants before having an interview and signatures were obtained. It was gotten an appointment with each participant before meeting. Each meeting was continued 30-60 minutes approximately. Interviews were recorded with tape recorder. Obtained data was read by researcher, collected under determined themes expediently and evaluated by grouping. Gathering of concepts and thoughts expressed concerning the emphasized subject under themes by following inductive consideration during the analysis was subjected to revising of data obtained from interviews; these themes were grouped by codifying according to research's subgoals. FINDINGS It was concluded that used non-technical skills were situational awareness, leadership, decision making, team work, communication, stress and managing with fatigue skills. It was seen that interventions from outside is the distracting factor. It was observed that decision making skill was not used actively. It was seen that in team work skill it was emphasized on solidarity, coordinated work. It was seen that contact of not recognizing the surgical team was prevented. In managing with stress it was seen that there used methods as inculcating herself. It was concluded that skills of branching absence affect negatively. CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATIONS In regard to results obtained in this study, it is recommended to take patient's part in whole process not only during the surgery in order to surgical nurses can use non-technical sill effectively, to specify the authorities in legal framework in order to profession will be more visible regarding leadership and decision making ability, to support by executive that they can use competing ability with stress and tiredness.
