Abstract (EN)

This study aimed to examine the adsorption and selective elution of Au and Hg from ‎glycine pregnant solution using Purolite 500Cplus and AmberSep 91419 IX resins and ‎activated carbon. The impact of temperature, pH, amount of adsorbent, duration of ‎retention, and speed of shaking on adsorption were considered. The results showed that ‎temperature and pH compared to others had minimal effects on Au adsorption, but ‎together with adsorbent dosage played a significant role in Hg adsorption. Under optimal ‎conditions, ~100% of Au and Hg were adsorbed onto IX resina, with Hg adsorption onto ‎AC remained around 80%.The PSO model was the best to describe the adsorption kinetics. ‎Au adsorption onto IX resins fit better with the FAIM and its adsorption onto AC with the ‎LAIM model. Regarding the selective elution process, H2SO4 and a mixture of NaOCl, ‎NaCl, and NaOH were chosen for Hg and Au elution, respectively. The impact of four ‎different factors, namely eluent concentration, bed volume, elution time, and temperature, ‎on Hg and Au elution was investigated. Under ideal conditions, 100% of Hg and ~1% of ‎Au were eluted during mercury elution stage. For Au elution, temperature, eluent volume, ‎and NaOCl concentration were identified as the most influential parameters. At the ‎optimum conditions, all Au and approximately 60% of Ag were eluted. Cycles tests ‎indicated that Purolite was easier to elute, and regenerate compared to AmberSep, although ‎it was less durable.‎
