The political end social role of woman in Anatolian principalities

Throughout the history of the Turkish States; women are regarded as the partner of dominance in the beginning and management of life and are not on the second plan in this topic. Women became a compassionate mother or they took their swords, they rode their horses and they fought bravely with men when it's necassary. The value that given to the Turkish woman, who has almost the same rights as men, shown in the monuments, inscriptions and epics. The women, who are part of an authority, managed defending their political and social rights for a long time. Turkish woman; remained in the background a little bit as result of economic and political events in Turkey since steppin into Anatolia, until the fall of the Anatolian Seljuk Empire. In the Anatolian Principalities, the Turkish woman was able to regain her former rights and freedoms. They found a place among the newly formed political authorities. So by joining directly administration, they took the responsibility of a division, the governorship. Women have had many political marriages in order to maintain their dominance and continuity of the political authority they are affiliated with. In the direction of these marriages, they created a balance between the two political forces. The political assets of the Turkish woman are not limited to these. They undertook embassy duties which are the first examples in Turkish history and Anatolian principals' contemporary foreign states. As they did with contemporary states, they have continued these embassy activities in their own principalities, and most of them have achieved success. Sometimes they left their political identidy and they only fulfilled religious and social responsibilities. They have also set up many foundations for these works. Through the social structures such as mosque, almshouse, mausoleum, madrasah, inn, which are formed as a result of the charity works of the women, they have became income to their descendants. Women directly supported the economy of the country with these structures. In addition to all of these, the needs of the public are also met by these structures. In this article; we wil try to explain the Political and Social Role of Women in the Anatolian Principalities, as a result of examination of the power of women in government, political marriages and the works of the women who lived in this states, based on the main sources.
