Mythological theme Attic style sarcophagi in Anatolia

In this study called "Mythological Theme Attic Style Sarcophagi in Anatolia", the sarcophagi found in Anatolia were determined and re-evaluated in iconographic and stylistic terms by referring to the marble type. In the first part, the historical development of sarcophagi, the use of sarcophagi in the Roman Imperial Period, the funeral art of this period, as well as the main production workshops of the period were mentioned. In the second part, the differences of Attic Type sarcophagi from the Roman and Dokimeion sarcophagi are mentioned. The history of the research, the iconographic features of the subjects seen on sarcophagi, architectural decorations, general dating details and the export area are explained. In the third chapter, Attic type mythological sarcophagi found in Anatolia were determined, iconographic limitation was made according to their subjects and a catalog was created. The sarcophagi have been suggested to be dated by looking at their iconographic and stylistic details in a chronological framework. Local findings of Attica Type sarcophagi in Anatolia, produced during the Roman Imperial Period, are mentioned.
