Abstract (EN)
Within the present doctoral dissertation, the double axe or the god with double axe depicted stone monuments which are altars, grave steles, votive steles, votive reliefs, votive statuettes and architectural fragments are preserved in the museums of Muğla, Milas, Bodrum, Marmaris, Aydın, İzmir, Manisa, Fethiye, Burdur, Antalya, İstanbul, Pamukkale, Eskişehir, Afyon and Kütahya are treated. Furthermore, the catalogue include the monuments which in Stratonikeia Depot; the monuments at Mylasa, Miletos, Euromos ancient sites and the sanctuaries of Zeus Labraundos at Labraunda, Hekate at Lagina and Apollon Lairbenos at Çal; the spolias at structures of Milas and Eskihisar. We obtain data with these monuments which could contribute to the identification of the gods with double axe and the relationship and interaction between these gods. By studying on the sacred and ceremonial axe in Anatolia before the period Iron age and the regions which have geographical and cultural interaction with Anatolia, an attempt to reach conclusions about the origin and meaning of the sacred double axe.
