A catalogue of Early Bronze Age Anatolian cemeteries and burial gifts in the light of the social structure of the time

People who had buried their dead from the Paleolithic Age onwards, were able to maintain their tradition of burying people inside the settlement, dependent upon the cult of the ancestors, during the Neolithic and Chalcolithic Ages. With urbanization, specialization and the emergence of new architectural forms, burial outside the settlements in cemeteries began to be established during the Early Bronze Age. Deceased individuals, dependent upon belief in the afterlife, gender, age, were buried outside the settlement with different gifts according to their position-status within the community. In this thesis the Early Bronze Age cemetry/cemeteries of Anatolia have been addressed, recorded in a catalogue together with the burial gifts, which can inform us about the material texture of the social and cultural structure of the period.
