Özet (EN)

It is known that the emergence of the art of sculpture is as old as human history. In the process of civilization, humanity has pursued goals such as protection against nature, survival, maintaining the lineage and increasing fertility. For this, he created works in the form of idol, sculpture and monumental sculpture that he associated with God. It can be said that these works differ materially, formally and intellectually according to the ages and societies. Anatolia has been the transition point between Eastern and Western civilizations since the first stages of humanity due to its position. It can be thought that Anatolia, which has great importance in the civilization of humanity with its thousands of years of cultural accumulation, is hosting great civilizations due to its geographical characteristics. The Phrygians are known to be one of the great civilizations established in Anatolia. It is thought that the Phrygian sculpture art also influenced the civilizations that preceded it as well as the civilizations that preceded it. In this study, the art development of civilizations from the emergence of art in Anatolia to the Phrygians has been examined. The effects of the Phrygian art, which was influenced by Assyrian and Late Hittite sculpture art, have been investigated and interpreted by the ten artists who produced works under the influence of Phrygian art. Literature survey, qualitative methods, on-site observation and museum investigations have been used in the study. It is aimed to recognize the cultural values of the Phrygians who left many monumental works in our immediate surroundings. As a practical work, the lion figure, which is the sacred animal of the Mother Goddess Kybele, which is of great importance in Phrygian art, is seen in rock tomb facades, rock monument facades and orthostats. Two symmetrical lion statues, inspired by Phrygian art, were made in front of the protocol entrance gate of the Faculty of Fine Arts at Kütahya Dumlupınar University. Keywords: Sculpture, Relief, Sculpture Art in Anatolian Cultures, Stages of Sculpture Making
