Abstract (EN)
In the Turkish society, which is called the shame society in the classification of "culture of shame / culture of guilt", the dominant attitudes of the "other", which is called "all the world", have a voice in many cases. It can manifest itself in behaviors, decisions, spoken words, traditions and customs from social life to individual life. This study has been carried out in order to find traces of a culture that has been so ingrained in Turkish society in literary narratives such as folk tales. There is no study that has examined the traces of shame culture and their functions in folk stories before. This study aims to reveal the very visible but not noticed at first glance expressions of the culture of shame, which has always preserved its effect even after centuries. With this intention, in the first part, emotions, sociology of emotions, shame, shame culture and the reflections of shame culture in Turkish society are explained. In the second part, what the folk story is, its relationship with culture and society, which folk stories were chosen for this study are explained and their summaries are given. In the third part, the shame culture contexts determined in line with the selected folk stories were classified and the shame culture elements in the folk stories were examined and their functions were explained.
