Abstract (EN)
reat Seljuks formed an independent state after the Dandanakan War in 1040 against the Ghaznavids and they continued their conquest policies. Many Turkish Principalities were established in Anatolia on the condition of remaining loyal to the Sultan when Sultan Alparslan severely defeated the Byzantine Empire in the Battle of Manzikert in 1071, in conjuction with opened the doors of Anatolia to the Turks. Kutalmışoğlu Süleyman Shah who is a member of the Seljuk dynasty laid the foundations of the Anatolian (Turkey) Seljuk Sultanate at İznik in 1078. Turkey Seljuks provided political unity as a result of the military and political struggle in Anatolia. Turkey Seljuks started work for the development of the economy in Anatolia because of it came to a standstill due to the war. He made incentive investment to revive trade for foreign traders. The conquests of the Mediterranean and Black Sea port cities were come true so that trade was not interrupted and merchants were not suffer. Some cities were become trade centers and were developed economically due to the fact that Anatolia is at the crossing point on the important trade routes geographically and establishment of Anatolian cities on trade routes. Trade routes passing through East and Southeast Anatolian cities provided commercial and economic development in region cities in the period of Turkey Seljuks. International markets were established in important centers on trade routes and merchants met all of from world in these markets. In addition, VIII professional organizations which were established in cities with the influence of ahi community contributed to the economic development of the cities. Being suitable for agriculture and husbandry due to the climatic conditions of Anatolia contributed to the economic development of the cities of region in industry, agriculture, husbandry and mining along with trade. Cities such as Sivas, Erzurum, Erzincan, Diyarbekir, Mardin. Düneysir and Harput were the great trade centers in Eastern Turkey in the period of the Seljuks.
