Abstract (EN)

Having been introduced to predominantly Islamic Culture and Civilization from the time of Seljuks, Kastamonu has maintained its spiritual richness until today. This study aims at finding the traces of the tradition of praying, which is common in Anatolia, in Kastamonu as well as emphasizing and featuring moral /spiritual side of the city through these traces and contributing to the promotion of the city especially in terms of religious tourism. Prayer is the most robust means to the manifestation of the religious experience. For this, the study concentrates on the prayers of people as a religious phenomenon. Therefore, it was thought that it would be appropriate to identify and determine the prayers of the people to reveal the traces of the tradition of praying common in Anatolia and to display the spiritual richness of Kastamonu. In this study, the prayers said by the people of Kastamonu, the common aspects of the prayers, and the effects of such variables as age and the level of education on these prayers were investigated through content analysis.
