Analytical hierarchy process andpublishing house selection by promethee methods

Soon after the humankind turned to settled life and started to labor with agriculture and breeding, they started to gather and stock surplus value. During their search for a method to keep an account of leftover wheat and animals, they invented numbers, mathematics, alphabets and writing. By time they improved the early method which they used to keep record of small ruminants and bovines and also annual wheat amounts. Besides these mathematical calculations, the invention of symbols in the first place and then the alphabet, by which the voices could be signified, led them to create a daily log system. In the meanwhile the long running text, Epic of Gilgamesh had come to light. From then on historical records were started to be kept. The propagation of writing and the increasing rate of literacy induced a parallel increase in the number of people who were considering their writings were important and willing to deliver them to large masses. These texts, which were augmented by such a gruelling way like handwriting in the beginning, became more available and easy to reach after the invention of printing press which lead to another step of increase in the literacy rate and so readership. Thus, writers came on the scene and authorship turned into a profession, and then printing houses were founded, publishers and bookstores launched out into work, and consequently a publishing sector was born. While a very few number of publishing houses were supplying books for many bookstores in the beginning, there are more publishing houses than bookstores and writers who are eager to publish their works nowadays. While the publishing houses trying to choose the proper writers among many, the writers are trying to find the most suitable publishing house for themselves on the other side. Both parties have their own preferential criterias and they both want to make the optimal choice within the framework of these criterias for a maximum benefit. This thesis presents a resolution advisory for writers for the process of publishing house selection under existing market conditions. V Interviews with publishing house owners, publishing directors, editors and writers were used to determine the criteria. In determining the criterion weights, the opinions of the people working in various positions in the publishing houses were consulted. For this purpose, a survey was conducted with 10 people. The AHP method was used to determine the weights, and EXCEL was used in the AHP calculations, and the alternatives were shown with the help of the PROMETHEE method after a second survey with 7 authors.
