Abstract (EN)

This study aproaches the Witcher 3 Wild Hunt video game in terms of narrative ways. The study will analyse the relation between Witcher 3 video game and Witcher book series, role playing video games (RPGs) and their synthesis with the open world system in video games. As for Witcher book series, certain methods in relation to literary text analysing such as text-specific approach and asthetics of the reception approach which is based on reader response criticism were used in the study. This study will demonstrate the process of how the novels have become an interactive video game, how the gamers were exposed to the story based elements in the novels after this process, where the gamer stands for in the game storytelling and how the storytelling in the game is metamorphosed by the gamer's choices. The specifications of media shaped by the synthesis of fantastic literary and role playing games will be presented trough the study regarding the properties of both media means and how characters and stories in the novel were processed in the game. The impact of the game on the novel series and how the novel series enriched the content of the game from the aspect of open-world, characters and the cogency of the game will be also utilized in the study. The impact of gamers' interactiveness changing the course of game storytelling is addressed in details. At the end, the study will also argued that there is definitely an ineffectiveness concerning the analysis on story-based video games which has been dealt in terms of ludology. This study compares and analyses Witcher 3 video game and the novel series. It aims to provide affordable contributions to the field of intermediality in literature with the help of the extensive comparison of literary media and game media. Ludology stands opposed to Narratology, it holds that the unique nature of games requires a new framework and ought to be understood apart from narrative content.
