An examination of the top 10 works most frequently borrowed from Ankara public libraries between 2018-2022 in terms of the basic elements of children's literature.

The aim of the research is to examine the first 10 works most borrowed from Ankara public libraries between 2018-2022 in terms of the basic elements of children's literature (character, subject, message, language and narration, pictures). The universe of the research consists of the first 10 books most borrowed between 2018-2022 obtained from the Ankara General Directorate of Libraries and Publications. The books are ranked according to the number of borrowings. The study is a descriptive study in the screening model, which is one of the qualitative research methods. The first 10 works most borrowed from Ankara public libraries between 2018-2022 were examined in terms of the basic elements of children's literature (character, subject, message, language and narration, pictures) and the data were evaluated according to the conceptual framework determined by Sever (2006) in the section "How Should Children's Literature Teaching Be?" in the symposium titled "II. National Children's and Youth Literature Symposium: Developments, Problems and Solution Proposals". According to the findings obtained as a result of the evaluations, it is seen that the characters in the works are not monotonous, the works include characters that appeal to different age groups and the child can find characteristics similar to himself in the characters, there is a variety in the distribution of subjects and the subjects in the works contain fictions that the reader will encounter in his life, the messages in the works are given in the form of open and closed messages through events, the language used in the works is understandable and the narration is short, clear and sincere, the use of pictures in the works changes according to age groups and the style of the lines in the pictures is designed to appeal to the child's senses.
