Abstract (EN)

In this study, the aim was to determine the frequency of some adverse effect after seasonal influenza and/or pandemic A (H1N1) influenza vaccination in health care workers (HCW) working in Ankara. In March-April 2010, 1611 HCW from Ankara Atatürk Educational Research Hospital, Sami Ulus Educational Research Hospital and 13 Primary Health Care from Etimesgut Chairman of Health Group have been reached in the content of study.41.1% of HCW have had seasonal influenza vaccination and 26.1% of who had vaccination, had side effects. Most of HCW, who have not been vaccinated; reported the needlessness of vaccination and fear of side effect as explanation of reason for being not vaccinated. 36.4% of examined health care worker have been vaccinated in season 2009-2010. Side effect in 28.7% and influenza-like illness in 36.3% of health care workers who had vaccination in this season. These side effects are expected mild side effects. In workers whose age 44 and under and had food/medicine allergy, frequency of side effect is significantly higher. İnfluenza-like illness is also more frequent in women and workers who had food/medicine allergy.46.6% of examined HCW had pandemic influenza vaccination. After pandemic influenza vaccination, any of side effect was seen in 66.4% of vaccinated HCW. More side effect was seen in women and health care workers who had food/medicine allergy. As a result, vaccination percents are under expected. HCW, like every part of public, are affected from actual discussions and contradictions. For health services being not effected from these conditions, HCW?s knowledge should be renewed and updated.
