Abstract (EN)

Objective: The aim, structural and functional limitations caused by the deteriorating quality of life in patients with AS, investigate the relationship between two scale that measures disease activity (BASDAI and ASDAS-CRP) and developed AS-specific quality of life scale ASQoL. Material and Methods: Seventy nine AS patients aged between 22-65 years were included. Demographic data of the patients were questioned. C-reactive protein (CRP) were measured. Disease activity of patients were evaluated by Bath AS Disease Activity Index (BASDAI) and AS Disease Activity Score (ASDAS-CRP) . As a period of active disease; at BASDAI greater than 4, at ASDAS-CRP greater than 1.3 values accepted. Accordingly, the patients were divided into two groups: active and inactive disease. These two groups were evaluate the relationship with disease duration, morning stiffness, pain at night, Bath AS Functional Index (BASFI), Bath AS metrology index (BASMI), AS Quality of Life Scale (ASQoL) and CRP. Results: In our study, 70 (88.6%) patients according to ASDAS-CRP and 38 (48.1%) patients according to BASDAI were found in active disease. Duration of disease was not corraleted with ASDAS-CRP and BASDAI. Groups of patients with active disease at ASDAS-CRP and BASDAI showed positive correlation with morning stiffness and BASFI, evaluated with each other, ASDAS-CRP was more closely related to these parameters. BASMI and CRP were associated with only ASDAS-CRP group of patients with active disease. Groups of patients with active disease at ASDAS-CRP was very strong correlation with ASQoL, but groups of patients with active disease at BASDAI was moderate correlation with ASQoL. Conclusion: ASDAS-CRP correlated with the quality of life in a more powerful, perhaps; a more specific activity suggests by clinical studies than BASDAI. So much so that more work is needed to support this issue. KEY WORDS: Ankylosing spondylitis, ASDAS-CRP, quality of life KEY WORDS: Ankylosing spondylitis, ASDAS-CRP, quality of life
