An i̇nvesti̇gati̇on of correlati̇on between parents atti̇tude towards behi̇voral problems of 36-72 month chi̇ldren and di̇sci̇pli̇ne methods used by teachers

This study has been done to investigate the correlation between behavioral problems of 36-72 months children and parenting styles and teachers' use of disiplin methods. In this study relational survey method has been used. The study sample; In the 2015-2016 academic year in the district of Aydın Efeler for children in kindergarten it consists of 200 children selected by sampling method.In order to collect the data, "General Information Form" developed by researcher to collect information about child, mother, father and teacher; 'Child Rearing Questionnaire' developed by Boratav (2003) for determining parents' disciplinary methods; 'Teacher Discipline Opinion Scale" developed by Şimşek (2003) for determining the teachers' disciplinary methods and 'Conners Parent Ratıng Scale Long Form-Revısed' developed by Kaner, Büyüköztürk, İşeri, Ak, and Özaydın (2011) for measuring the children's behavioral problems have been used. Also, the correlation between variables have been analyzed with correlation analysis. As a result of analyses, it has been found that there exists a positive significant correlation between the mother's and father's parenting attitude (obedient, punitive) subscales and children's behavioral problems (cognitive problems-inattention, defiance, hyperactivity, social problems and psychosomatic). Also, a negative significant relationship has been found between the parenting styles of mothers and fathers (interested/close, democratic/explanatory) subscales and children's behavioral problems (cognitive problems-inattention, defiance, hyperactivity, social problems and psychosomatic) subscales. It has not been found significant correlation between subscales of behavioral problems and teacher discipline subscales (democratic and authoritarian).
