The impacts of creating cultural routes to conservation of architectural heritage in Antakya

The main topic of the thesis is the creation of a cultural route proposal to protect and ensure the continuity of the architectural heritage in the city of Antakya. Within the scope of the thesis, the historical processes and cultural assets of Antakya city were examined fort his purpose. The literature and case studies were carried out specifically to the architectural heritage and the selected region. As a result of the studies, the importance of the multilayered of the city of Antakya was noticed. Cultural route planning was used as a tool in the scope of this thesis in order to preserve the sustainable and integrad way of the multicultural structure of Antakya and it's the architectural heritage that has survived from historical eras and civilizations to the present day. As part of the thesis, proposal were made to plam and design a cultural route specific for urban protected area of Antakya. The purpose of this thesis; raising awareness of Antakya's architectural heritage and revealing the cultural characteristics of the region. This thesis is aimed to experience the cultural heritage of Antakya and to contribute to the conservation by increasing awareness of conservation.
