Analysis of intersection traffic signals in Muratpasa District of Antalya

Abstract (EN)
Antalya province is considered as a tourism city due to its climate properties, location and natural structural. The number of vehicles seriously increase with the increase of population. The increase in the number of vehicles cause the traffic problems and it necessitates new arrangement traffic system. In this thesis, three intersections structure in Muratpasa district which is very important in terms of Antalyas' internal traffics were evaluated. These intersections are Balıkçıoğlu-Naranciye, Komaş and Sampi. Recently, new arrangements have been done in the mentioned intersections. Maximum traffic volumes were recorded in the morning and evening . The information about the traffic signalization (period time, cycles times, red, green and yellow traffics' light times), types of vehicles and number of vehicles which passes through the intersection were obtained. The obtained data were analyzed by the traffic simulation program whose commercial name is PTV Vissim. After that, the previous arrangement data of intersections which conducted in 2016 by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Transportation Planning and Rail Systems Department were analyzed with PTV Vissim program. Finally, the obtained results were compared with the 2016 analysis data and best solution was suggested. Although there has been an avarage increase of %10 in the number of vehicles passing through intersections, it has been seen that the level of services has improved compared to 2016. At the same time, the positive effect of the change of Sampi intersection from the roundabout to the intersection has been determined. Solutions were offered in current branches where service leves are low.
