Faunistic studies on the armored scale insect species (homoptera; diaspididae) and their natural enemies in Antalya

FAUNISTIC STUDIES ON THE ARMORED SCALE INSECT SPECIES (HOMOPTERArDIASPIDIDAE) AND THEIR NATURAL ENEMIES IN ANTALYA Fedai ERLER (M. S. Thesis) This study was conducted to determine the species of scale insects, their host plants, distributions and natural enemies in Antalya province during 1992-1994. Twenty species belong to seventeen genera were recorded. These were as follows: Aonidiella aurantii (Coquillet), Melanaspis inopinata (Leonardi), Targionia vitis (Signoret), Quadraspidiotus perniciosus (Comstock), Q. marani Zahradnik, Aspidiotus nerii Bouche, Dynaspidiotus britannicus (Newstead), Aonidia lauri (Bouche), Parlatoria oleae (Colvee), Parlatoreopsis longispina Lindinger, Lepidosaphes ulmi (Linnaeus), L. flava Kirkaldy, Salicicola kermanensis (Lindinger), S. pistaciae Balachowsky, Suturaspis archangelşkyae (Lindinger), Pseudaulacaspis pentagona (Targioni -Tozzetti ), Nilotaspis halli (Green), Epidiaspis leperii (Signoret), Unaspis euonymi (Comstock) and Lineaspis striata (Newstead). Identification keys to subfamily, tribus, genus and species were given. Along with faunistic data related to Antalya, the synonims, host plants, distributions in the world and Turkey of each species were summarized. Drawings of adult female, pygidium, female and male scales were provided. As natural enemies of these armored scale insect species five coccinellid, one thrips and three mite predator species were found.
