Abstract (EN)
The history of wallpainting dates back to Prehistoric Period. It represents us with the reflections of people's daily life and beliefs. The wallpaintings which consist of many colors and subjects is an inseparable part of ancient sociaties. Fresco, which is a tecnique in art, is the name of the paintings made by many kind of colors on plaster. The first written sources giving information about this tecnique dates back to 4th century BC. Ancient period writers Plinius an Vitruvius, give the detailed information about paint pigments. Through out historical progress of wallpainting show differences regarding production tecnique and materials. In early times paint pigments which are found in nature turned into a wide color palette with the awakening of the artist. Subjects vary a lot in wallpaintings. In Prehistoic Period generally wallpaintings describe scenes of haunting warriors, rituels belonging to daily life. The developing art perspective of artist turned the subjects into detailed compositions on many architectural structures. Mythological scenes, Gods and goddesses, rituels, animals, nature, fests, scenery, theatre plays, plants etc. are depicted on walls. South America, India, Europe, Egypt, Greece, Italy and Turkey gives us rich works of art. KEYWORDS: Archeology, Ancient, Wallpainting, Fresco.
