Abstract (EN)

Water has always had an important place in human life and the transition to settled life, the beginning of agriculture is linked to water. In the past, most of the cities were built in stream beds. For security reasons, the need to move the city to the city has emerged by positioning the cities in safe areas. The most important problem of the Greek and Roman cities was to supply water due to the geography they were located in. Water structures have become savior at this point and have become works of art rather than meeting the need in time. Constructed according to the geographic conditions of the waterways, the structures are waterways, aqueducts, fountains, baths and cisterns starting from the water source. While the Romans were taking water to the cities, they gained the art of aqueducts, which were the masterpieces in the arch and vaulting, and they have come to the present day. In order to bring water to the cities, if water conditions are appropriate, the waterway which is made by adding stone, lead or terracotta pipes is used. However, if the terrain conditions are not suitable, one or more storey aqueducts are constructed. Kilometers of length waterways were built. Within the scope of the thesis, the water transmission systems in the Anatolia and the World, Water Structures and water-conducting waterways and pipe systems were explored and the water structures in Pisidia Antiokheia, Ariassos, Apollonia, Konana, Kremna, Sagalassos, Seleukeia Sidera and Termessos Ancient Cities were investigated.
