Comparison of technology addiction levels of coaches and office staff

This study aims to compare the technology addiction levels of coaches and office staff working at the Malatya Provincial Directorate of Youth and Sports. The population of the study consisted of 218 coaches and 321 office personnel working in Provincial Directorates of Youth and Sports in Malatya. The sample of the study consisted of 264 coaches and office staff. A 6-question personal information form and technology addiction scale were used for data collection. Licensed SPSS 26 package program was used to analyze the data obtained. Before starting the statistical analysis, normality distributions of the data were examined and it was seen that the data met the normality assumption. For this reason, independent sample t-test was used in the analysis of binary variables in the personal information form, and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used in the analysis of more than two variables. The significance level was based on p<0.05 in determining the differences between the groups. When the findings obtained are examined, there is no significant difference between technology addiction and age, gender, and tenure. On the other hand, it is seen that there are statistically significant differences between the level of technology addiction and the position of the participants, the duration of daily interest in technological devices and regular sports. At the same time, it is seen that the significant differences are in the deprivation sub-dimension of the scale. When the average scores obtained from the scale are analyzed, it can be said that the addiction level of the participants is at a low level. As a result, although it is seen that the technology addiction levels of the participants are at a low level, it can be said that the significant differences in various independent variables in the 'deprivation' sub-dimension mean that the participants feel deprived in various situations. In this context, it can be said that various measures should be taken.
