Abstract (EN)
Although chromatographic and spectrophotometric methods are frequently used in drug analysis, electroanalytical methods have advantages such as low cost, easy applicability, and short analysis times over these methods. One of the important features that advantage of electroanalytical methods from other methods is that it provides the determination of the electroactive region of the molecule. Voltammetric techniques, one of the electroanalytical methods, are frequently used to reveal the electron transfer mechanism of pharmaceutical molecules. Factor Xa inhibitor apixaban, which is a part of the direct oral anticoagulant group, was approved by the FDA in 2012. In the present study, electrochemical analyses were conducted to address the existing gap in the literature regarding the electrochemical analysis of apixaban and to elucidate its electroreduction mechanism. In this study, the reduction mechanism was elucidated using a dropping mercury electrode, and the electroactive region was determined. A method for quantification of the apixaban using differential pulse polarography was developed, and applications were conducted using samples of apixaban's commercial preparation, Eliquis®.
