Millions of vehicles are inspected every year in our country and as a result of these inspections, millions of vehicles remain in the examination repeat. The aim of this thesis is to investigate these serious defects and to draw attention to the most common or repeated serious defects before the examination and to raise awareness. The total number of vehicle inspections carried out between 2016–2021, the number of vehicles remaining in the re-examination and the number of vehicles that could not pass the re-inspection were determined. Vehicle inspection system data, which was privatized in 2008, is stored in the Ministry of Transportation system. With the information obtained from the Ministry of Transport with the right to information and the data limited to the exchange of information with individual users, the ten most common serious defects were identified throughout 2021. These defects are; defects caused by systems such as the brake system, brake and reversing lights, seat belts, exhaust emission and liquid gas system have come to the fore.
