Abstract (EN)
Generally, a composite material consists of two or more components. These are brought together in a macroscopic level so that the components are insoluble in each other. Reinforcing components may be in the form of fiber, particles or thin sheets. The other component is the matrix phase. Some difficulties in determining the mechanical properties of composite materials are available. This situation has arisen from the fact that composite materials having more complex structure than metallic materials. Ballistic properties and mechanical behavior of composite materials based on aramid used in the defense industry has been investigated experimentally. First, plates were prepared by using 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24 ply aramid fabric. Then 10, 21, 42, 63 and 84 bar pressure were applied to them. Balistic resistances of the plates made of aramid fabrics were measured by performing bullet and particle test at different shooting speeds. The tensile strengths of the plates before the balistic test and the part of the plates which was not shoot with bullet were measured. The experiments in the laboratory have been made in accordance with NIJ 0101.04 and STANAG 2920 standard.
