Prepositions in arabic language (Example of İbn Hisham)

In the field of Arabic language, the subject of hazif, which provides the easiest way to explain the meaning in the sentence with the fewest words to be expressed in the sentence and the task of reducing the redundancies in the sentence, has an extremely important place. The subject of hazif is frequently encountered in every language, especially in Arabic. Hazif is seen in sentences and words as well as in letters. The main purpose of using this phenomenon is to express many meanings with few words, that is, to gain richness of meaning and to avoid prolonging the phrase. The Qur'an and Arabic poetry, which are the sources of this subject, contain the best examples. The majority of linguistic scholars used the phenomenon of hazif in their speeches and works and attached great importance to it. Among these scholars, especially Ibn Hishām al-Nahwī gave particular importance to the issue of hazif and dealt with it in many of his grammatical works. In his work "Mughni al-lebīb 'an kutubi al-e'ārīb", which is among these works, he dealt with this issue in detail in a separate section and explained the occurrences of hazif on sentences, words and letters in detail. While explaining these occurrences, he made the issue more comprehensible with examples from both the Qur'an and Arabic poetry. The aim of this study is to contribute to the literature by examining in which situations and places the hazf of prepositions, which is a subheading of the subject of hazif, takes place.
