Abstract (EN)

This research paper examines the topics that Arab poets lamented in their poetry, consisting of an introduction and two chapters. In the introduction the definition of Arabic poetry was introduced along with it's elements and periods. The first chapter deals with the definition of lamentation, it's types, it's history and with the topics of lamentation, which is divided into human, non-human and self-lamentation. The second chapter deals with the role of lamentations in society and their impact on individuals. The researcher relied on traditional along with modern sources to explore these poems in an attempt to give examples of all the topics that Arab poets lamented in their poems and the circumstances surrounding them using the descriptive analytical approach. The study attempts to answer these questions: what did the Arabs lament? What is the impact of lamentations on individuals and society? And were the poets able to express their feelings through this poems? Finally, the research is concluded with the results of studying these lamentations.
