Abstract (EN)

There are stereotypes about male and female roles in social life. These stereotypes describe men as strong and powerful, while women are described as weak and controlled by men. The theory of feminism was developed against sexist approaches towards women and inequality between men and women. Feminism theory defends women's rights in the fight against inequality against women. Second wave feminism affects all branches of art, as well as cinema. Representing women in passive roles in mainstream cinema films has become the main problem of feminism. Feminist films are beginning to be produced due to the increase in female directors and female screenwriters in the cinema industry over the years. By developing feminist film theories, it is aimed to construct women as women in cinema. In this study, the theory of feminism and the waves of feminism are explained, and the reflection of second wave feminism on cinema, its impact on cinema and women's representations in cinema will be examined by analyzing the films of the Arab director Hayfa El-Mansur.
