REMOTE CONTROL OF A BABY'S ROOM USING ARDUINO AND ANDROID Süleyman GÜÇLÜ Advanced Technologies, Master Thesis, 2018 Thesis Advisor: Doç. Dr. Rüştü GÜNTÜRKÜN SUMMARY A remote controlled smart cradle design and application has been implemented that warns people concerned when their baby is crying or when the baby is wet by sending an audio alert through the installed Android app or short text message (SMS) to their mobile phone. When the baby is watched live by the parents, user name and password are required to access the IP camera. In addition, the user can remotely monitor the baby with an IP camera to take the necessary precautions and can control the cradle by swaying it from a distance. In addition, if the room temperature is lower or higher than the defined values in the system, the heater or cooler, which will be selected according to the season, is activated to keep the temperature value at the desired level. When the sound sensor detects crying, the cradle is automatically swung for 1 minute with the engine triggered by the electronic circuit. If the baby continues to cry, the 1 minute swing repeats 4 times. If the baby continues to cry, a warning signal is sent to the defined mobile phone. The signal is processed by the program on the phone and people concerned are notified via information message, voice notification or text message. While the cradle is swaying, the system helps to keep the baby asleep by playing a pre-defined lullaby. Our mobile phone application keeps a report of all incidents when the system is running and sends the report to the defined e-mail address when requested. The fact that working parents are returning their homes tired and also stay sleepless at nights lower their productivity at work.
