Abstract (EN)
In this study, changes on the antioxidant ? oxidant system on humans who use drinking water exposed to arsenic-contaminated chronically, were investigated. Studies were made on two groups as control group and group constisting of ones being exposed to arsenic chronically. In this study, taking blood samples from two groups, level of malondialdehyte (MDA) the measurement of lipid peroxidation from the plasma of these samples, level of one of the antioxidant enzymes, catalase (CAD) and superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme activities, were investigated. In humans, exposed to arsenic chronically, it is seen that MDA according to control group increased non-sigficantly (p>0,05) statically, catalase and superoxide dismutase activities decreased significantly (p<0,001) statically. As a result, it is decided that arsenic submissions cause oxidative stress on humans, increasing lipid peroxidation and inhibating activities of antioxidant enzymes. Key Words : Arsenic, Catalase (CAT), Superoxide Dismutase (SOD), Malondialdehyde (MDA), Lipid peroxidation, Oxidative Stress.
