Abstract (EN)

Usage of pictorial language in art therapy method and interpretation of explanation forms Art shows formations in all parts of our lives, all of these formations are positive effects to the soul. Every branch of art take different places in these positive interactions, some effect in visual manner and some in both visual and aural. Mankind has refuged in art more and more as he understood and lived existence, surroundings, life, fear, joy and sorrow. In time, art has become a need for people. This need has evolved and improved in itself in different eras. In different parts of shamanism and rituals such as necromancy, protecting the good people, safekeeping from evil spirits, recovering, final farewell to dead, various forms of art have been used. Today this undertstanding has evolved into the name of "Art Therapy" and this concept has been used as an indispensable adjuvant tool in communication with subconsciousness. This thesis study has three parts: in the first part, main definitions, aims and fundamental knowledge regarding Art Therapy is given; in the second part, visual examples are used to demonstrate how pictorial language is used, how forms are interpreted and resolved; in the third part, art producing processes of people with mental disorders have been compared to each other and a general definition of "Art Brut" which comprises artworks of naive, vulgar, spontaneous and mentally ill people is given while supporting with examples from this concept.
