Abstract (EN)

Within the scope of this thesis, it is aimed to develop a mobile application to enhance the user experience on historical buildings using augmented reality technology. In this context, it is planned to obtain user opinions on how augmented reality affects the user experience as a practical tool on historical buildings. Urban memory is an important element that reflects the history, culture and identity of a city; however, it carries the risk of being lost over time. Augmented reality technology can be a potential tool to revitalize, preserve and save urban memory from oblivion. Applications such as virtual recreation of historical buildings, reliving historical events and promoting the cultural heritage of cities in a virtual environment can help prevent urban memory from being forgotten. Augmented reality can be a powerful way to convey the city's past and identity to future generations and contribute to the preservation of cities' cultural heritage. Within the scope of the study, the condition of the Girls Monastery in Trabzon during the IVth building period was digitally animated and this animation was shared with the users and ideas about the study were exchanged through the user experience. Accordingly, it was seen that augmented reality has a significant potential to be used to increase user experience on historical buildings.
