Abstract (EN)
In this study, relationships between Ips typographus infestations during 2010 – 2019 and some stand characteristics in spruce forests of Artvin were determined. Data that are used in the thesis were obtained from the Artvin Regional Directorate of Forestry, tables of Project of Technical Management of Pests and from the records of field studies of Forest Pest Management Branch of the Regional Directorate of Forestry. Chi-square test was performed to determine the effects of stand characteristics such as stand structure, development stage, closure, site index, distance to forest road, and topographical characteristics such as altitude, slope, aspect on I. typographus infestations. Logistic Regression Analysis was performed to determine the effects of combinations of factors and evaluate the determinant factors. As a result, it is determined that stand structure, development stage, crown closure, site index, distance to forest road, altitude, slope, aspect are definite factors in I. typographus infestations in spruce forests of Artvin. In our study scale, altitude is the most important factor affecting I. typographus infestations and it is followed by development stage, slope, distance to forest road, aspect, stand structure, site index and crown closure. Keywords: Ips typographus, stand characteristics, topographical factors, spruce, altitude
