Abstract (EN)

The literature includes many studies conducted with an aim to increase performance of induction motors. Methods like optimisation of stator and rotor slot structures, analysis of used materials, development of motor drive circuits, improvement of design parameters, development of winding techniques, etc. are used to achieve increases in motor performance. In induction motor winding technique have a significant effect on the motor performance. Parameters such as different structures of coils used in the stator slot types, the number of coils in the slot and the diameter and length of the used coil wires create changes in motor performance. In this thesis study motor performance is analysed with two different winding techniques used in stator coils of a 1.1 kW squirrel-cage induction motor. Motor windings were coiled half coil winding and whole coil winding. In addition, to analyse the effect of the number of coils on each stator slot spooling was done in three coil number options, namely 96, 106 and 116 coils. In experimental studies 6 motors with the same power and size specifications were prepared to comprise 3 motors with 96, 106 and 116 coils on half coil winding , and 3 motors with 96, 106 and 116 coils on whole coil winding. Experimental tests were conducted no-load, locked rotor, and loaded operation. The data collected from these tests were used to calculate equivalent circuit parameters, torque, and efficiency and etc. values. According to the obtained results, the best efficiency was obtained from 106 coil whole coil winding. In addition, it is inferred that efficiency rates of whole coil winding motors is better than those of half coil winding motors at the same number of coils. Keywords : Induction motor, performance analysis, winding structure, whole coil winding, half coil winding.
