Comparative investigation of CAD/CAM systems with composite restorations in in-vitro conditions in permanent molars with excessive substance loss

Abstract (EN)

Objective: This study was carried out to examine CAD/CAM-produced resin nanoceramics, composite and zirconium-reinforced lithium silicate ceramic block indirect inlay with direct resin composite material materials in terms of marginal adaptation and microleakage. Materials and Methods: MOD cavities were prepared on 44 extracted molars and the teeth were randomly divided into 4 groups (n = 11). 1st group: CERASMART (GC Corp., Tokyo, Japan), 2nd group: BRILLIANT Crios (Coltene / Whaledent, Altstätten, Switzerland), 3rd group: Celtra Duo (Dentsply Sirona, Konstanz, Germany), 4th group: GC Essentia (GC Corp., Tokyo, Japan). Teeth placed in acrylic blocks were evaluated in terms of marginal gap and margin continuity under scanning electron microscope. For microleakage evaluation, samples were kept in 0.5% basic fuchsin for 24 hours and cut in half along the mesiodistal line, and the amount of dye leakage was scored on stereomicroscope at x20 magnification. For statistical analysis, Mann Whitney U Test was used when evaluating between two groups and Kruskal Wallis Test was used when evaluating between more than two groups. Results: The mean margin values were found between 16.92±14.27μm-69.97±41.15μm. Percentages of continuous margin at measurement points were higher in CERASMART group than all groups (p <0.05). Mean values in microleakage studies were 0.86 for CERASMART, 1.80 for BRILLIANT, 1.70 for Celtra Duo and 2.00 for Essentia. Microleakage value of CERASMART group was found to be significantly lower than all groups (p <0.05). Conclusion: It has been observed that the marginal gaps for all groups are below acceptable values according to the literature. Resin nanosceramic CERASMART block has been more successful than other materials in terms of margin continuity and microleakage values. Margin continuity percentages were found to support microleakage values.
