Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, I analyze Suffah's formation, importance and role in the first years of Islam ('Asr as-Saadah). I argue that the constitution of the Suffah platform in a part of the Prophet's mosque (masjid an-Nabi) in Medina - after the migration from Mecca - represents one of the most important events in the first age of Islam. Therefore, I discuss to what extent Suffah's architecture, function and social life took a significant place in Islamic history. My goal is to understand the impact of Suffah platform on social, cultural and economic features of Islamic civilization. In this search for Suffah's impacts I look at Islamic history through a global appoach that starts from the 7th century until today. Key words: Mosque of the Prophet (masjid an-Nabi), Suffah, People of the Bench (Ashab as-Suffah)
