Abstract (EN)

The use of plants for therapeutic purposes dates back to ancient times. The use of the plant itself and its products in the treatment of many diseases in the field of traditional medicine is quite common in almost all societies from past to present. When we look at the reasons for this, it can be considered that the development of synthetic drugs takes many years, their high cost and harmful effects as well as treatment effects. However, herbal products maintain their popularity in the treatment of diseases, including in developed societies. Although there are plant species used for medicinal purposes in our country and there are studies related to them, there are still plants that have not been studied, discovered and their effects have not been determined. In this study, Asyneuma linifolium subsp. eximium. It is aimed to obtain information about the potential of the plant in the pharmaceutical industry by determining the phytochemical composition and biological activities of the Asyneuma linifolium subsp. eximium. The total phenolic and flavonoid contents of the extracts were investigated to determine the phytochemical composition, and the phenolic contents were found as 16.34 and 18.44 mg GAE/g extracts in the methanol and ethyl acetate extracts, respectively, and the total flavonoid content as 18.94 and 14.00 mg RE/g extracts in the methanol and ethyl acetate extracts, respectively. In addition, DPPH and ABTS radical scavenging activities, copper (CUPRAC) and iron (FRAP) reducing powers, metal chelation and total antioxidant capacity tests were applied, and ethyl acetate extracts showed high activity in CUPRAC, phosphomolybdate and metal chelating tests, while methanol extract was found to be more active in other methods. In addition, inhibition activities for acetylcholine esterase, butyrylcholine esterase, glucosidase amylase and tyrosinase enzymes were examined and the highest inhibition was determined in ethyl acetate extract for other enzymes except glucosidase. In the light of the available findings, it has been determined that the extracts of the investigated plant are important sources of antioxidant and enzyme inhibition, and it is thought that the plant may be an effective source for the pharmacology industry.
