Chip seals are widely used in our country and around the world due to their low cost and easy applicability. Chip seals are generally formed by applying binder and aggregate in sequence. They are created for reasons such as increasing skid resistance, obtaining an impermeable surface and repairing the existing road surface. Approximately 53% of the highway network in our country consists of chip sealed roads. In our country, it is seen that the use of chip seals is gradually decreasing due to highway transportation and increasing traffic volumes. The low bearing capacity of the chip seal layer and its inability to withstand the incoming traffic loads cause this situation to occur. In order for the chip seal layer to have the desired performance, the climatic values of the region, traffic values and suitability of the materials to be used in its construction are very important. In the thesis study, limestone, basalt and waste asphalt aggregate concrete were used in the chip seal. In addition to the use of a single type of aggregate in the experiments, different proportions (25%, 50% and 75%) were mixed with each other. Bitumen with four different penetration classes (B 50/70, B 70/100, B 100/150 and B 160/220) was used as a binder. B 100/150 and B 160/220 bitumen were used only in the Nicholson peel test. Within the scope of the thesis study, a vialite test was carried out to determine the effect of material differences on the adhesion force in chip seal performance. The effect of temperature differences during the winter months on the chip seal layer was investigated with a modified vialite test. The effect of the presence of moisture on the layer was also investigated in the experiment. The sweep test, which is not included in the standards of our country, was carried out according to studies from foreign sources. In the experiment, sweeping losses were determined according to material differences. As a result of the experiments, it was observed that waste asphalt aggregate concrete has high peeling and adhesion performance but low sweeping performance. Basalt aggregate has low peeling and adhesion performance but high sweeping performance. As a result of the experiments, it was observed that bitumen with a softer consistency had high adhesion, peeling and sweeping values. Humidity and low temperatures in the winter months had a negative impact on the performance of the chip seal.
