Abstract (EN)

In the modern world, where environmental pollution and diesel fuel prices are increasing rapidly, the need for alternative fuel has become inevitable. Biofuels obtained from biomass are the most important alternative fuels. In this study, biodiesel which is one of the biofuel types was investigated. For this purpose, two different frying oils were collected: frying potatoes and frying oils. In addition, the suitable method for the conversion of waste frying oils to biodiesel was investigated. For this, the conventional method and the electrochemical method were compared. Waste oil methyl ester (biodiesel) was obtained by these methods in both frying oils. The catalysts used in the methods and its ratio, alcohol type, applied tension values, reaction temperature and times were optimized according to the literature and experiments were carried out. The suitable method was determined by examining the fuel properties of biodiesel obtained by using different methods from waste frying oils.
