Abstract (EN)
In this study, fuels in the form that can be used in diesel and gasoline engines were produced by using pyrolysis method from waste oil sludge. In the analyzes, it was determined that both fuels contain high amounts of sulfur. Twostage desulfurization reactions have been applied to these fuels. The sulfur content of gasoline and diesel-like fuels was reduced by 64.2% and 52.6%, respectively, using 10% perlite in the first desulphurization phase. Since these values are above the limit values, the second reaction, acidic desulphurization reactions was carried out. In acidic desulfurization reactions of gasoline and diesel-like fuels, the sulfur content was reduced by 88.6% and 91.3%, respectively. As a result of these reactions, gasoline fuel (BY), gasoline-like fuel (BBY), low-sulfur gasoline-like fuel (DKBBY), diesel fuel (DY), diesel-like fuel (DBY), low-sulfur diesel-like fuels (DKDBY), physical and chemical properties were analyzed. As a result of these analyzes, it was determined that the density and viscosity value of DKBBY fuel is relatively high compared to BY fuel, although it does not exceed the limit values. On the other hand, it has been determined that the DKDBY fuel has low cetane number and lower thermal value, and the density and viscosity values are partially high. It has been observed that these values are in the range of limit values. Upon determination that its fuels are suitable for internal combustion engines, engine performance and emission tests have been passed. Diesel-like test fuels were tested in a direct-jet, single-cylinder diesel engine, and gasoline-like test fuels in a spark-ignition single-cylinder gasoline engine. Engine performance characteristics and emission values of test fuels are compared with those of standard fuel. In performance analysis of BY-BBY and BY-DKBBY fuel mixes; It was determined that the mass and specific fuel consumption values increased slightly with the increase of BBY and DKBBY fuel in the BY fuel, while the thermal efficiency and exhaust gas outlet temperature values decreased relatively. In the emission analysis, NOX and CO2 values were low, while HC, CO and SO2 values were high with the increase of BBY and DKBBY fuel in BY fuel. In the use of BBY fuels, SO2 emission values were found to be above acceptable limits. On the other hand, it was observed that there was no significant difference between the performance and emission values of DKBBY50 fuel and the values of the BY fuel. It has been determined that there are relatively differences in the use of DKBBY100 fuel within acceptable limits. In the analysis of DY-DBY and DY-DKDBY fuel mixes; It has been determined that with the increase of DBY and DKDBY fuel in DY fuel, the mass and specific fuel consumption values have increased slightly and the thermal efficiency and exhaust gas temperatures have decreased relatively. In the emission analysis, it was determined that NOX and CO2 values were low and HC, CO and SO2 values were high with increasing DBY and DKDBY fuel in DY fuel. Due to the heavy hydrocarbon content of DBY fuels, SO2 emissions were found to be well above the acceptable limit values. On the other hand, it has been determined that there are relatively differences between the performance and emission values of the DKBBY50 and DKBBY100 fuels and the values of the DY fuel within acceptable limits. As a result of the experimental study, it was concluded that BBY and DBY fuels can not be used in related engines without desulphurization processes and DKBBY and DKDBY fuels can be used in related engines.
