Abstract (EN)

Climate change is recognized as a global environmental threat caused by humans. It is seen as the second most serious problem facing the world and causing consequences that negatively affect life. Environmental issues such as ever-increasing energy demand, declining fossil fuel deposits, national security and global warming, and higher air pollution levels require a switch to renewable fuels. It is necessary to develop a cleaner, safer, sustainable and renewable alternative to fossil fuels. It has been proposed to convert waste transmission oil to produce such fuels using thermochemical processes. In this thesis, diesel fuel was produced from waste transmission oil by pyrolysis method. The produced waste transmission oil diesel mixture fuel is 80% diesel and 20% waste transmission oil. Engine tests were carried out and necessary comparisons were made by using the produced blended fuel and pure diesel fuel in a diesel generator engine. 6 different combustion test parameters were used as engine test. These; pressure increase rate, cumulative heat release rate, mass combustion rate, net heat release, average gas temperature, cylinder gas pressure. Emission tests were carried out after the engine tests. Within the scope of emission tests; The changes in carbon monoxide (CO), carbon dioxide (CO2), hydrocarbons (HC), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and oxygen (O2) emissions depending on engine load were investigated. Finally, three different parameters were tested to determine the performance parameters of the fuels. In general, there is a similarity in the combustion and performance data in the use of mixed fuels, and the change is at the level of (1-3) %. An increase of 13-20% in NOx emission values and an increase of 20-30% in CO2 emissions was observed.These tests are listed as fuel consumption, specific fuel consumption and effective efficiency measurement and calculation. It can be said that the waste transmission oil additive mixed fuel produced in the test results can be used instead of diesel fuel in accordance with its purpose.
