Investigation of the relationship between sports commitment, athlete identity perception and psychological resilance in athletics athletes according to success levels and competition branches

The main purpose of this research is to examine the relationship between sports commitment, athlete identity perception and psychological resilience in athletics athletes according to their success levels and competition branches. For this purpose, adult athletes (n = 265) from various branches of athletics (throwing, jumping, running and walking) were included in the study by using the stratified sampling method. In this study, which was carried out with the relational scanning model, a total of 4 separate forms were sent to the participants as a data collection tool in order to obtain their opinions in relevant areas. These; "Demographic Information Form", "Athlete Commitment Scale", "Athlete Identity Scale" and "Brief Psychological Resilience Scale". Raw data obtained with these data collection tools were analyzed using SPSS (26th version) software. In addition to descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA and correlation analysis were used as analysis techniques. According to the analysis results, significant results were obtained in the variables of sports success and age related to the variable of commitment to sports. Regarding the athlete identity variable, significant results were obtained for the variables of sporting success, athletics branch and age. According to the results of psychological resilience, significant results were obtained regarding gender, sports success and age variables. Finally, according to the results of the correlation analysis, it was concluded that there was a relationship between sports commitment, athlete identity perception and psychological endurance values in athletics athletes, although their severity and direction differed.
