The central state Türkiye in Eurasian Energy Security and geopolitics: Chimaera Natural Gas Pipeline Project

SUMMARY Energy geopolitics includes not only resource geography but also all aspects of supply and demand in general. This growing energy geopolitics includes all developments of global geopolitics. A valid estimation of the energy system and supply is applicable to a worldwide benchmark. The increasing demand for natural gas, in particular, causes new geopolitical developments at the international level. Energy security requires the evaluation of many possibilities together such as possible terrorist attacks on the infrastructure of energy production, transmission and distribution systems, interruptions caused by investment deficiencies, obstacles caused by hurricanes to embargoes, civil war to occupation. For this reason, the geographical distribution of energy resources with their costs, transmission routes with demand increase trends, import dependence of large consumers with developed military doctrines should be considered in the energy policy and supply security evaluations. The energy security policies developed by the countries for the Eurasian geography will be examined in this thesis. Natural gas reserves, inter-country energy supply-demand relations, energy policies and supply security issues will be evaluated for the Eurasian geography. A new natural gas pipeline project that will pass through Turkey will be proposed. The Chimaera Natural Gas Pipeline Project will be planned by examining the strengths and weaknesses of the previous pipeline projects. The project based on the security of the pipeline route will contribute to Turkey's becoming an energy center. It will be ensured that cooperation activities with the countries on the project route in the fields of socio-cultural and education will be highlighted.
